Statement of Anonymity for Individuals Using Samaritans Southcoast’s Suicide Prevention Services

At Samaritans Southcoast, we are committed to maintaining the privacy and anonymity of all individuals who seek our suicide prevention services. We understand the importance of confidentiality in fostering a safe and supportive environment for those in crisis. 

Our practices include:

1. Strict Confidentiality: All interactions with our counselors and volunteers are strictly confidential. Personal information is never disclosed without explicit consent, except in cases where there is an imminent risk of harm to the individual or others.

2. Anonymous Support: Individuals seeking support can choose to remain anonymous. We do not require personal details such as names, addresses, or contact information to assist.

3. Secure Communication: Our communication channels, including hotline and online services, are designed to ensure users' privacy. We use secure technologies and protocols to protect the information shared during interactions.

4. Confidentiality Policy: All staff, volunteers, and board members are bound by a confidentiality agreement to safeguard the privacy of the individuals we serve. They receive training on maintaining confidentiality and respecting the anonymity of those in crisis.

5. Data Protection:  We adhere to strict data protection policies and practices to ensure that any information collected is stored securely and used solely to provide support and improve our services.

By prioritizing anonymity and confidentiality, we strive to create a trusted and safe space for individuals to seek help and support when needed.
